Once again Historic Downtown Newburgh will be the sight of the annual occurrence of the
Historic Newburgh Ghost Walks.
Plans for the 2016 Historic Newburgh, Inc. Ghost Walks, sponsored by People’s Trust and Savings Bank and Titzer Family Funeral Home are already underway. It will be our 23rd year and will run the third weekend in October.
Participants on the Ghost Walks can choose between two different haunted tours. Each year we tweak the scripts and add and delete stories. Many people come back year after year!
On the Water Street tour, attendees will learn of river lore, family legends, mystery, and the sinking of the steam ship Missouri! The State Street tour focuses on Newburgh history, Civil War tales, thrills, and thing that go bump in the night! Both tours offer their share of historical murder, mayhem, and mysteries.
The guided walking tours depart every 15 minutes from Preservation Hall (200 State Street) and each tour lasts about an hour. Comfortable shoes are recommended for those participating.
Many people go on both tours by booking one tour early in the evening, then going to dinner and taking the other tour later in the evening. Others prefer to do both tours back to back.
Many people went on one tour last year and will go on the other this year. It is all great fun!
