About the Event

Join us for the 2021 Newburgh Ghost Walks - Ghostly Hayride edition!

We're excited to announce the 2021 Newburgh Ghost Walks - Ghostly Hayrides edition October 15-17, 2021. Tours will run every 20 minutes each night from 6pm to 9pm with the 9pm tour being the last tour of the night.

Tickets are $15 per person, and every person, no matter age, must have a ticket to ride the hayride due to space limitations.

All ticket sales will be online only this year, so make sure to purchase your tickets in advance!

This is a rain or shine event. In the case of light to moderate rain, we will be open. There will be no refunds or rescheduling. Please double check the date/time you purchase tickets because we cannot accommodate requests to reschedule.

What to expect: The Ghostly Hayride will start at the Gene Aurand Trailhead located at the corner of SR 662 and Yorkshire Drive in downtown Newburgh. The hayride will begin with a short walk along the illuminated trail across the red bridge. You'll meet ghostly storytellers on the bridge as you make your way to the hayride. The hayride will then take a route along Water Street. before ending up back at the Aurand Trailhead where you started. Hayrides will last approximately 50 minutes and include past favorite stories from State Street, Water Street, the original hayride tour AND two new stories including some interesting tidbits about the underground railroad.

Weather Policy: This is a rain or shine event. In the case of light to moderate rain, we will be open. There will be no refunds or rescheduling.

Historic Newburgh, Inc. (HNI) staff will close the event is there is a threat of high winds and/or lightning. Only when HNI cancels the event, patrons who purchased advanced tickets will be reimbursed or will be offered the option to come another evening. In the event of inclement weather in the forecast, please call in advance, check our website (historicnewburgh.org) or visit our Facebook page for any weather related updates.

Parking Information: Public Parking is available at St John the Baptist Catholic Church located at 725 Frame Rd, Newburgh, In 47630. Parking is also available in all downtown Newburgh public parking lots. Street parking is also available.

There is limited handicap parking available on-site at the Gene Aurand Trailhead. If there are no handicap spots available when you arrive, you may drive into the trailhead parking lot and drop off your passengers.

As always, please listen to the volunteers located in the parking lot at the trailhead when using handicap parking or dropping off people in your party.

FAQs

Is this family friendly? Yes! All stories are historical in nature, not jump out and scare you scary. It is appropriate for all ages.

How long does the tour last? Hayride tours are approximately 50 minutes. This time includes the walk along the illuminated trail over the red bridge.

Are face masks required? As of today (9/7/21) face masks are encouraged since social distancing is not possible on the hayrides, but they remain optional. If infection rates go up and it is required by the health department at the time of the event, we will contact you and let you know that the requirements have changed.

Something came up, can I get a refund? No. All tickets are non-refundable and cannot be changed to another date/time.

Something came up, can I give/sell my tickets to a friend? If you need to transfer your tickets to another ticket holder, please email events@historicnewburgh.org. The name of the ticket holder is required in the case that contact tracing needs to be done.

The Rivertown Trail is a public walking trail, why do I have to pay to walk through the display? The Rivertown Trail closes to the public at dark. Special permission was granted by Town of Newburgh to allow access to the closed trail after dark for a private fundraiser event.

Does my baby/toddler/young child need a ticket? Yes! Due to spacing limitations on the hayrides everyone, no matter their age, is required to have a ticket for the Ghostly Hayrides
